Dermatology department of Dhaka Shishu Hospital runs six days a week since July 1991. It mostly runs on an OPD basis; however it provides service to admitted patient also. Presently the OPD is situated in room no 13 of ground floor. Like all other OPD departments guardians of the children can collect an OPD ticket at nominal price and then come to OPD from 8am to 2:30pm on all working days. Sometime in long govt. holidays OPD remains open as decided by the authority. Patients are seen as first come first serve basis unless there is an emergency. Once the patient gets a ticket for OPD he or she can use this ticket for next 15 days without further charge. The OPD ticket gives the patient the opportunity to get free consultancy from a dermatologist and medicines are supplied free of cost from the hospital pharmacy subjected to availability. OPD is run by a consultant and a medical officer. On an average 1200 to 1500 patients are seen every month. Present consultant of OPD is Dr Mahfuza Hussain who graduated from Sylhet Medical College in 1984 and did her Diploma in Dermatology & Venereolgy from Dhaka University in 1990.
